Why do Food Packaging Bags break?

The damage of food packaging bags is one of the important aspects affecting product quality, because the damage of food packaging bags not only affects the quality of product packaging, but also causes food to be wet, leaked, and deteriorated, which directly affects the quality of food in the bags... 1. The effect of heat sealing temperature on heat seal strength is the most direct

The melting temperature of various materials directly determines the minimum heat sealing temperature of food packaging bags. In the production process, due to various influences such as heat-sealing pressure, bag-making speed and the thickness of the base material of the food packaging bag, the actual heat-sealing temperature is often higher than the melting temperature of the heat-sealing material. The smaller the pressure of the heat seal, the higher the heat seal temperature; the faster the machine speed, the thicker the material of the surface layer of the bag, and the higher the heat seal temperature required.

If the heat-sealing temperature is lower than the softening point of the heat-sealing material, no matter how to increase the pressure or extend the heat-sealing time, it is impossible to truly seal the heat-sealing layer. However, if the heat-sealing temperature is too high, the heat-sealing material at the welded edge will be easily melted and extruded, which will cause "root cutting", which will greatly reduce the heat-sealing strength of the seal and the impact resistance of the food packaging bag.

2. The type, thickness, and quality of the heat seal layer material have a decisive influence on the heat seal strength

The common heat-sealing materials for general food packaging bags are CPE, CPP, EVA, hot-melt adhesive, and some other ionic resins co-extruded or blended modified films. The thickness of the heat-sealing layer material is generally between 20 and 80 μm, and in special cases, it can reach 100 to 200 μm.

The same heat-sealing material, its heat-sealing strength increases with the increase of heat-sealing thickness. The heat-sealing strength of the cooking bag is generally required to be 40 to 50 Newtons. Therefore, the thickness of the heat-sealing material should be more than 60 to 80 μm.
